Blake grabs some seat-time while visiting family in Michigan.
October 21st, 2020
Family, friends and racing, what more could you ask for?
While traveling to Michigan on a trip to visit with some family, Blake and crew decided to take the cars with them and see what those famous Michigan dirt ovals had to offer. A stop at the famed I-96 Raceway in Lake Odessa, Michigan, was the highlight of the trip.
On night one, Blake would quickly grab a second-place finish in his heat race, parlaying a 4th place start into a 3rd place finish at the end of the 30 lap feature event. Night two had a little more fun in store.. After a parts failure while driving for a local late model team, long-time BSR crew chief Justin McGauley got the nod to hop in the Bozard Ford XR1 backup car to log some laps. "Hot Rod" would go on to finish his heat in the 4th spot, placing him 7th for the Saturday night finale - Blake, however, got a bit of bad luck after dominating his heat, a flat tire forced him to the rear of the field, relegating him to a 15th place starting position. Team spirits were quickly lifted after some good clean racing between the two Bozard Ford XR1 cars - Hot Rod would go on to finish 7th and Blake logged his second consecutive top five with a 5th place showing.
Blake has been tapped by Mr. James of CWI Maintenance and Mr. David at S&P Motorsports to pilot their #118 Rocket Chassis XR1 at the annual All-Tech Raceway, October 22-24th, for a chance at the $25,000 pay day for this Crate Racin' USA event. "Any opportunity to get some seat time is a valuable thing, and we're going into this deal with high hopes and fantastic equipment. We are very grateful for the chance to race alongside the sports best Crate Late Model talents."
BSR and Revolution Racing has begun the maintenance and rebuild portion of their offseason. While details are still being finalized for the 2021 season, Blake aims his plans to the highest stages of dirt late model racing, after finding some speed and confidence running a selective schedule due to COVID-19. Those plans, along with new and returning sponsor spotlights will be updated here throughout the offseason.
